For 25 years, Forrest Rodgers oversaw museums in Washington and Utah, including his time as executive director of the NW Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane, beginning in 2011. In his role at the museum, Forrest Rodgers led the Smithsonian-affiliated museum of regional history, Plateau tribal culture, and art in Spokane.
Mr. Rodgers’ responsibilities at the NW Museum of Arts and Culture included developing a sustainable funding model for the museum. While there, he secured multiple large gifts for the museum’s exhibits, school and public programs, and its mission-critical position. He also managed the museum's departments.
In 2018, the Moab Museum hired Mr. Rodgers to transform the 60-year-old museum into a regional one that implemented and executed the highest professional standards and best practices. As executive director, he developed a strategic vision and business model to make the museum regionally recognized. He played a crucial role in the planning and renovation of the 30-year-old building. He also recruited and trained staff in creating exhibits and programs.
While at the museum, Mr. Rodgers received the Utah Historical Society’s 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award. In addition to his work in this field, he served as a board member of the Utah Division of Arts & Museums and was the former chair of the Grand County Economic Opportunity Advisory Board, where he remains a current member.
Presently, Mr. Rodgers is a consultant who has worked with organizations such as the University of San Diego and the Moab Museum. He also provides pro bono counsel. He currently resides in Moab, Utah.
